I use 100% recycled cotton which is produced from pre-consumer textile waste. This is waste fabric, fibres and clippings that are generated during the cutting and sewing of a garment. The recycled leather is manufactured from discarded offcuts from the manufacture of apparel, shoes, handbags, furniture, etc. Additionally, I sew with recycled polyester (R-PET) thread which is made from plastic bottle waste.

As every bag is made to order please allow 2 weeks from placing your order to shipping.

Hi, my name is Emily and I thought I would take an opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself and why I decided to start my handcrafted eco-conscious business, Refashioned Remnants.
I am originally from a small town in Essex. As a child I loved to be creative, I played the flute, wrote short stories and painted. Although, my strengths were always in academic subjects such as science and maths. Therefore, after finishing secondary school, I went to the University of St Andrews, Scotland to study chemistry. After graduation, I moved to Jarrow, North East of England where I have had jobs in the coatings and medical diagnostics industry.
My interest in sewing started in 2014 when my mother-in-law gifted me her old sewing machine, which dated back to the 1970’s. When I first received it, I wasn’t sure what to do with it.  My original thoughts were to use it to fix hems or make repairs on old clothes.  Never did I think it would spark a passion for making or that I would develop a skill that I could use to start my own business.
However, in 2020 after being ground down by working in the chemical industry, I decided to make a change. I choose to start a business so I could share my love of sewing with others. Careful consideration was put into choosing my product range, as with the growing concerns over fast fashion and waste I couldn’t justify producing throw away items that would end up in land fill. Instead, sourcing of sustainable materials, handcrafting and timeless design, are my philosophy.
This led to the establishment of Refashioned Remnants. I aim to embed new life into discarded waste, by using fabrics from recycled sources to create elegant bags that will be cherished for years to come.
